Palestine solidarity protest outside Israeli embassy

About 2,000 lively protesters came to the demo yesterday. It was great seeing loads of organised groups arriving every couple of minutes. It was much bigger than we thought it would be given that it's holiday time and people are away.  At the beginning we were penned in to stop us from getting near the embassy. Apparently a man threw a shoe at a police officer who then tried to arrest him which made the croud go wild and we broke through the barrier to stop him from being arrested...

Most of the reports on thhe mainstream press say we were only 700. If we were only 700 then the police are admitting how rubbish they were at containing us Check out some dodgy news doctoring at http://www.newssniffer.co.uk/articles/186726/diff/7/8

Somehow i lost loads of pictures and videos. I had a lovely one of a group of about 10 young kids, about 6 yrs old, chanting 'Besh to Israel'-i dont know what 'besh' means but i think they misundertood the 'Death to Israel' chant!

The NKUK Orthodox Jewish contigent attracted a lot of attention.

This is one of the reports from BBC showing police using heavy-handed tactics.

Hizbollah - reactionary anti-working class force.

Their resistance to zionism is nothing to celebrate, they shoot in the right direction, but offer nothing to the working class - not of Lebanon, Palestine or anywhere else.

The only force capable of consistant anti-imperialism in Palestine is the working class, not their islamist representitives that murder them and the same goes for Lebanon.

That aside, amazing demo. Onwards until zionism is strangled!

Ste - I believe you don't live in Lebanon or Palestine. I don't either, but if I lived there I would support Hamas and Hizbollah against any invading enemy. How can working class people organise themselves when zionist bombs are flying and exploding in their hospitals, schools, religious centres, offices, factories, homes etc?

I got a clipping on the ear from some foul mouthed imbeciles for supporting Hizbollah when Israel invaded Lebanon. I was polite then because I knew I was dealing with idiots who have no experience of the indignity caused by foreign troops and how it feels like to be invaded by a foreign army. Hizbollah and Hamas are helping their people maintain some form of dignity against the humiliation they have faced since the state of Israel was created. I can assure you that both Palestinians and Lebanese know oppression from within from experience, just as the Afghanistans and Iraqis know brutality from within from experience. Invading armies make workers impotent against this brutality. We who are outside and moreso the people whose governments are supporting these wars should support those forces fighting for their land and only after their victory can we work in solidarity with the working class of those countries.

Well done to those who made it to the demos. A good turn out as well and as some comments at the tomb suggest, this will be a well conveyed message to the warmongers. We will not sit back and watch you slaughter innocent people and their children.
