The occupation and protests to save 600 jobs and stop the closure of the Vestas wind turbine factory on the Isle of Wight is a key battle showing that occupations are back on the agenda as a powerful weopon to stop job losses.
The occupation also raises questions about climate change, globalisation and the economic crisis. Last week Energy and Climate Change Secretary, Ed Miliband, promised to create thousands of new jobs in the new low carbon economy. Now he is defending a cash rich company wanting to close a plant directly involved in renewable energy.
Vestas is going to court on Wednesday. Support the demonstration at the court in any way you can 9.30am Wednesday 29 July, Newport County Court, Quay Street
