The number of dead in Gaza continues to rise. 908 Palestinians have been killed since the massacre started in late December, of whom 277 are children. Israel says 13 Israelis have died (as of 12/01/09).
Tens of thousands of people across the world have taken to the streets against the invasion of Gaza.
The statement released by the National Union of Students makes it sound like a war between two peoples and that there is some sort of equivalence in the suffering, failing to note the 60 years of Israeli occupation. It also says nothing about putting pressure on our government to stop the crisis.
The NUS should support demonstrations against the attacks and demand an end to the Israeli bombing campaign. It should also call for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador unless Israel immediately ends the siege, bombing and invasion of Gaza.
