Copy bird

Just heard my Mum's budgie say 'i'm gonna kill you': one of the kids keeps saying to the dog. Other choice quotes include 'Callum, do the
dishes', 'walkies', shrill 'TIA, come eya' and a great wolfwhistle.

Recently it has learnt 'merry christmas'. Just waiting for it to say 'if I've told you once i've told you a
million times'!

When I grow up I want to be a big kid.

At Christmas Mum gets so excited we have to open one present before we go to bed-she gets to choose which one we get, of course. This is me and my son in our new cuddly babygrows
complete with nonslip rubber paw motifs on the feet.

I always wanted a pair ever since i was little so when Mum saw these she couldnt resist. They are the most cuddly, comfortable thing we have ever had-I can't believe my son not only put them on willingly but allowed me to take photo & put on facebook! He must be growing up (or it was coz he was drunk!)

Off to watch crappy films; am gutted Sound of Music ain't on again (no,really, I am!)

Happy Christmas everyone. I hope you get a pressie as lovely as
mine :-)

And Happy Birthday to our Palestinian friend, Jesus...

Lessons in life

Couldn't help myself posting this well known motto to my son's door.
Although I have to add what a fantastic son he is-he's just had a life
changing experience after reading Orwell's 1984!

State the bleeding obvious

I know it looks like a razor but this lovely, ergonomically designed state-of-the-art piece of equipment is actually a vegetable peeler. Mind you, either one could be potentially fatal if used incorrectly so I am so thankful to the kind manufacturers for warning us of any impeding danger.

On a more serious (no really) note, I actually want to recommend this lovely friendly item.

When I worked in restaurant kitchens I actually really enjoyed peeling carrots-i can speedpeel which made me VERY popular! But the trouble with most peelers is that they are only designed for use in one direction only. This one, however, clever little thing, has a swivel head for use left handed, right handed, and either horizontally or vertically (i personally prefer the blade the other way round to in this photo-it makes it easier to peel quickly).

And the blade is made from non-rusting silicon so will not blunt and hence last for years .

Great, fab...

So, hope you are all now inspired to rush out and buy this beautiful thing.

Throw eggs at griffin game. Eggsellent shot comrades.

I'm a bit slow on this story but...

On tuesday BRITISH National Party leader Nick Griffin was forced to abandon a press conference outside Parliament when demonstrators pelted him with eggs ( A SOAS .

Chanting “Off our streets, Nazi scum”, two hundred activists chased him down the street as his bodyguards bundled him into a car.

We built this demonstration primarily through twitter and texts. The info reached a T&G Union meeting in the area who promptly concelled the meeting and joined the protest.

We all met at the tube because it is illegal to demonstrate or even gather outside the houses of parliament without prior warning.  Covering up our Love Music Hate Racism T-shirts and hiding our placards, along with all the trade union officials in suits, we did not look like a usual demonstration.  We walked slowly and quietly towards the press conference to not arouse suspicion and decended upon them.

When we got close we ripped open our jackets to reveal our anti-fascism t-shirts, shoved our banners in the air and walked towards him chanting 'Nazi scum, off our streets'.

He was clearly taken by surprise, not least when a SOAS student landed an egg directly on his face (fucking brilliant to watch!).

the support from passers by was amazing. All the passengers in the open window big yellow duck bus/boat cheered loudly out the window as we chased him up the street.

Nick Griffins nasty thug security lashed out true to form smashing one woman protester squarely in the face.

He responded to our protest by calling us a bunch of 'lazy students, lecturers and parisitic trade union hardcore labour supporters'!!!

I received a message from someone who said 'I understand he was only pissed off because you didn't separate the whites first.' Another eggstremely eggsellent comment Peter!

Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts!! Count me in!!

Summary of Life

GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptise cats.
2) When your Mum is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato. (Dont get this one?)
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
6) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
7) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
8) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
9) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.

GREAT TRUTHS THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree.
2) Wrinkles don't hurt.
3) Families are like fudge...mostly sweet, with a few nuts.
4) Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
5) Laughing is good exercise. It's like jogging on the inside.
6) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fibre, not the toy.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD

1) Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.
2) Forget the health food. I need all the preservatives I can get.
3) When you fall down, you wonder what else you can do while you're down there.
4) You're getting old when you get the same sensation from a rocking chair that you once got from a roller coaster.
5) It's frustrating when you know all the answers but nobody bothers to ask you the questions.
6) Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician.
7) Wisdom comes with age, but sometimes age comes alone.

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.

SUCCESS:

At age 4 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . having friends.
At age 17 success is . . having a drivers licence.
At age 35 success is having money.
At age 50 success is . . . having money.
At age 70 success is . .. . having a drivers licence.
At age 75 success is . . . having friends.
At age 80 success is . . . not piddling in your pants.

Protest against the arrest of shoe-throwing Muntadar Al-Zaidi

Called by: Stop the War Coalition

Date: 19 December 2008
Time: 13:00 - 14:00
Location: US Embassy
Grosvenor Square
London, United Kingdom

Media Workers Against the War, and the International Federation of Journalists have called for the immediate release of Muntadar Al-Zaidi, the journalist who hurled his shoes at George Bush in protest at his bloody occupation. Al-Zaidi has not been seen since he was arrested. The BBC reports he has been severely beaten.

The swift incarceration of this journalist contrasts sharply with the treatment of war criminals Bush and Blair. Their decision to go to war in 2003 has led to the deaths of up to a million Iraqi civilians.

Muntadar Zaidi's life is now in great danger. Not even his family know his whereabouts. We must speak out for the right of Iraqis to protest this criminal occupation.

Supported by Media Workers Against the War, Iraqi Democrats Against the Occupation and Stop the War Coalition.
All welcome, please forward widely.

No Santa, i do not want a silly ring for christmas...

There's nothing that says "I love you" to a woman like a diamond. Nope, not even the words "I love you."

Target Women is a recurring segment on Current TV's weekly television show, infoMania. In each episode of Target Women, Sarah Haskins takes a look at the often-ridiculous way the media reaches out to women.

The internationale in 47 languages +1 instrumental version!

Last night i was Bluetoothed a brilliant mp3 of this wonderful song to use as my ringtone-hope people phone me when i'm in interesting places like at the bank or Home Office!

Hell explained by a chemistry student!!!

The following is an actual question given on University of Washington chemistry mid term.

The answer by one student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+.

Fucking brilliant marking scheme...Markers award students for writing obscenities on GCSE papers

Write ‘f*** off’ on a GCSE paper and you’ll get 7.5%. Add an exclamation mark and it’ll go up to 11%.

"Pupils are being rewarded for writing obscenities in their GCSE English examinations even when it has nothing to do with the question.

One pupil who wrote “f*** off” was given marks for accurate spelling and conveying a meaning successfully."

I should get at least 100% then! How brilliant though-i guess if these are the only words a student writes then we have to refer to not the word itself but what it signifies-a big bugger off to shitty school and their crap examination systems.

My son's class is constantly being put into groups and told to compete with each other to see who can finish the set work the quickest...now they all refuse coz they hate competing against each other. His Maths teacher has promised the highest scoring group a trip to Oxford Uni: "great," they said "take us to a place that we know we will never get into just to rub our noses in it"! Smart kids-smarter than most of the idiots who come out of Oxford anyway...

He is told constantly that if his homework is not up to scratch he will FAIL, if his spelling is incorrect he will FAIL, if his class mates are not up to the standard of the teacher they will all FAIL and be withdrawn from the course. The teahcer has said he will not accept not getting 100% pass marks. In a system where teachers are also on trial, pitted against each other and entered into league tables i guess he is worried that he will FAIL.

A big EFF you to competition and league tables.
